Arctic Corsair

Artic Corsair, based at rear of the Streetlife Museum on the High Street, is the last remaining sidewinder trawler in Hull, so its a great place to visit for an informative (and free!) time with the family.

These free, guided tours are the only way to see this historic vessel and learn about the dangerous lives of the deepsea trawlermen who used it. Built in 1960, the Corsair had a long and successful career, but was rammed by an Icelandic Gun boat in the 1970s, leading to a lay up of 7 years! The Corsair then achieved a record breaking return to fishing before finally being laid up in 1987.

There is a short 10 minute audiovisual display to watch at the Visitor Centre, telling you all about life at sea. If you would like to find out more after your visit, the adjacent museum is also free to visit, and full of fascinating facts about the area!

Be warned: it has been maintained as original so there is no disabled access or pushchair access, also the nearest toilet facilities are located in the Hull and East Riding Museum!
