Arlington Court

Arlington Court, set in the thickly wooded Yeo Valley, is a family estate with over 2,700 acres to explore, including formal and informal gardens, with something to suit everyone, from hill walking to riverside rambles. Theres a grand Victorian mansion full of eclectic memorabilia and antique furniture to discover, plus working stable yard and Carriage Museum, full of horse drawn vehicles and impressive carriages, and a Bat Cam Room, where you can see footage of the colony of horseshoe bats that live at Arlington!

The house has over 200 years of history to discover, and over 5,000 separate items, each with a story, owned by wealthy playboys, reforming MPs, a globetrotting Victorian inventor, and many more! The Carriage Museum will show you the romance of travel in a bygone age, with over 40 different carriages on display, one of which was owned by Queen Victoria. See if you can escape from the Hansom cab with automatic locking, which used to prevent non-paying passengers from running away before paying!

There are lovely Shire horses to meet and pat, model ships, shells, and more to investigate in the house, plus a number of great quiz trails for the kids through flower meadows, lawns, and deer inhabited woodland. Over 20 miles of footpaths to explore, a man-made lake and bridge, a formal Victorian garden with conservatory, plus an abundance of wildlife to discover! Look out for Pooh Stick Bridge, Monkey Puzzle Mania, sheep sculptures, and the Wilderness play area tucked away in the woods!

A number of great family friendly activities during the school holidays to enjoy, including den building workshops, art and craft sessions, and outdoor challenges. Most of the activities are free and run whatever the weather, so check online before you visit to see whats on.
